Finding Local Chiropractors Within Your Area

Brett Alvarado asked:

Most Americans head to their medicine cabinet or their primary care physician when they experience pain and discomfort. Recurring headaches, arthritis, injuries sustained in car accidents can be relieved temporarily. But don’t you want more? If so, schedule an appointment with a local chiropractor.

What then is the advantage of going to a chiropractor over those primary care physicians and over-the-counter pain relievers? The great advantage is that chiropractors use and live by with natural medical care. This doesn’t mean they do not use high-tech equipments to diagnose a problem though, they still uses x-rays and MRIs. Performing alignments and adjustments is what the chiropractors usually do. It is called precision force. The force is used with hands to press joints into the proper position. Many people are becoming more mobile and feeling really relieved after a session.

Here are some ways:

A standard internet search. When performing a standard internet search, search with your city and state. You will be linked to a number of websites. Some of which are directories, where many chiropractors are listed. What you want to look for is chiropractor websites.

Business directories online are also available. You can use them too to find a chiropractor within your area by typing in your exact city and state, or also chiropractors not in your area but very near by searching to nearby communities. Here’s an example: From the main heading of Yahoo, go to “Local” and then type in your city and state, if you want to just view those offering chiropractic service in your city. You can also type in the cities nearby so you’ll see list of chiropractors located in there too. Your search terms or phrase can be: “chiropractor,” “chiropractic care,” or “chiropractic service.”

Usually all the services accredited by your provider are listed on their brochure or manual. Some providers though identify chiropractic care as an alternative medicine, but many are now considering its benefits.

Recommendations from those you know. Since many Americans, insurance providers, and employers are now embracing chiropractic care and realizing the many advantages, its popularity continues to increase. You may know someone who has seen or uses the services of a chiropractor. Ask those that you know, such as friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. Ask for the name, address, and phone number. Be sure to ask for feedback too. Our acquaintances are reliable informants with regard to professionalism, among other things.

Obviously, there are plenty of ways to locate and get chiropractic care within or near your area. In fact, it’s much more easier to look for a chiropractic service than finding your door keys at the back of your car or bag full of goodies, right? Well, you have have to be familiar with all the options listed here, then you’re on your way to choose a service that suit you best. Remember, in choosing a chiropractor, choose the one with great feedback, reputation and affordable fees.

There you have it, the ways to look for local chiropractors. You can find more info about chiropractic service at mydiscoverchiropractic.com.

How Can A Chiropractor Help You?

James Diesen asked:

If you have been complaining of lower back pain or muscle spasm that is just not going away, you must see a doctor. After having tried anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers, some rest, and several visits to a medical doctor, if the soreness still persists, a visit to a chiropractor may yield some positive results. Whether the ache is acute and lasts several days or isn’t very intense but mostly chronic, you could see a chiropractor. Many people, who don’t want to go under the scalpel, try chiropractic as a viable alternative.

The back pain could be due to fatigue, stress,  a spinal injury, or excessive weight. You should see if your mattress is uneven or your posture is wrong. These could aggravate the stiffness in the joints. Sometimes, even pregnant women complain of severe pains in the hip and back. There are studies that show low back pain caused by pregnancy responds very well to chiropractic. There are chiropractors who specialize in treating children, the elderly, sports injuries, and expectant mothers. Then there are those who are experts at rehab and post-accident care or dealing with spinal cord injuries or stress related conditions. Through our website, www.FreeExamJacksonville.com, you can determine whether you have a condition that chiropractic can help for FREE.

In this alternative form of pain alleviation, the bones are “adjusted” and put back into their proper alignment. It is done gently and with little or no discomfort. This misalignment is responsible for the improper functioning of the body, according to the chiropractic belief.  This method of treatment is absolutely painless and you could find relief almost immediately. Even if you experience some discomfort, it’s temporary. If the pain is persistent, then diagnostic tests such as X-rays or MRI scans are used to determine the source and treatment begins accordingly.

These days, this form of science is not only used to combat fibromyalgia, arthritis, sciatica, and sore muscles, but also migraine headaches, and to reduce stress. To know more about chiropractic, you could look for these practitioners in your area. Ortega Chiropractic is one such place. At a clinic like this, the individual needs of the patients are taken care of thus ensuring faster recovery. Ortega Chiropractic is located in Jacksonville on the westside near NAS Jax.

Chiropractic now ranks second behind conventional medicine. What goes in its favor is that it doesn’t involve any drugs or invasive procedures. Sometimes a chiropractor will recommended a change in the lifestyle and diet. Exercises are also advised and most patients feel that their mobility has greatly improved after chiropractic. With an experienced chiropractor your back ache would soon be a thing of the past.

Maximized Living and How Chiropractors Help You Achieve it

Alan King asked:

Have you ever experienced a headache that just won’t quit? Or perhaps you suffer from low back pain on a regular basis. Maybe you were in a car accident and have had to deal with whiplash. Perhaps you just feel “off,” but numerous visits to your regular doctor reveal nothing specifically wrong. A chiropractic physician may be the person you should see because he will use a conservative management of the neuromusculoskeletal system without the use of medicine or surgery. This, in turn, will help to maximize your quality of life as you begin to experience much less pain on a daily basis.

Most mainstream chiropractors believe that the spine and your health are related in a significant way, and that relationship is connected through the nervous system. Chiropractors can help you reach your maximized living potential by combining scientific research and a combination of conventional and holistic treatments to diagnose and treat your ailments. The Chiropractic belief is that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, but that spinal joint dysfunction can severely limit its success. Through manual therapy, they work with your whole musculoskeletal system, which includes the skeleton, muscles, cartilage, joints, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues, which support the body and protect vital organs. Some may also recommend regular exercise, massage therapy, ice or heat packs, acupuncture, nutritional supplements or other techniques of conventional physical therapy.

The first time you go to see a chiropractor, they may take x-rays of your spine, observe visually as well do a physical exam to feel the problem areas, and perhaps even require an orthopedic and neurological evaluation. If necessary, they will refer you to an appropriate specialist. The most common treatment in chiropractic care is called “spinal manipulation,” which is comprised of taking a joint past its normal range of motion, but not so far as to damage or dislocate it. A loud cracking or popping sound will be heard. Chiropractors may also use other techniques such as full-spine manipulation, Cox/flexion-distraction, and extremity adjusting to relieve the pressure built up between joints. These types of therapy are safe when used skillfully and appropriately. Many won’t stop with just the physical aspects of therapy, however. As chiropractorship is considered an alternative form of medicine, they may also include wellness counseling, nutritional education, stress management and so on.

Although Chiropractors cannot write medical prescriptions or perform major surgery, they are very specialized in their care and understanding of their patient’s needs. They have gone through thousands of hours of training and must earn a first professional degree, pass national or state board exams before being licensed to practice. Although they may not be regarded in the same light as medical doctors, Chiropractors are absolutely dedicated to giving you the opportunity to maximize your life by improving the level of your health through non-invasive means.

Chiropractor in Oregon

Dr Peter Lind asked:

The First event in our office is to fill out two forms.

Form 1. Comprehensive health profile: http://www.lindwellness.com/comprehensive-health-profile.doc

This form will pull out information about you that is very specific to your health. It includes the three major health interferences: physical, nutritional, and emotional stress. Most likely you will not have been asked these questions before, but they are very important to your past, present, and future health issues.

Form 2. Total Health Survey: http://www.lindwellness.com/Total-Health-Survey.pdf.

This survey is general and groups you into system categories: immune, hormonal, digestive… Once you complete this we will find which of your body systems are blinking red lights. When this is completed we will know which areas need immediate attention.

The Second event in our office is for us to listen to you talk about your health issues. This is called a consultation. We do this on everyone who comes in so we can see if your problems are appropriate for us to work with and to see if you and us have a good fit.

After the consultation we begin evaluating you and work to uncover your health interferences. We begin with structure, then go into nutrition, electromagnetic, toxins and chemicals, allergies and sensitivities, and stress and emotions. This usually isn’t done all at one time, unless you have traveled a distance and are here for a short period of time.

We’ll look at your brain function by eye blind spot tests and balance tests. We’ll do postural evaluations, range of motion, applied kinesiology muscle testing, and a few other evaluations. We may take a couple of X-rays to see what kind of shape your spine is in.

The Third event, once all this information is gathered is to submit to you a report of findings. This is a summary of the interferences we’ve found and what kinds of approaches we can take to help you improve your health. We always offer a couple of options:

A. Short-term Relief Care

B. Longer-term Fix Care

A. Relief care is designed to back down your symptoms and help you find relief as soon as possible. As we’ve found that momentum creates change, the quicker we work that sooner you find relief. When you’re feeling better – you’re done spending time in the office, and we hope you feel better for a long time.

B. Fix care is what most people in our office choose. This type of care is designed not only to help you find relief quickly, it works to help your body fix and correct your problems to as near as normal as possible. Now, most people have had some major health interferences for a long time and it just takes a while to help their bodies heal and repair the damages. This is no surprise. But what we’ve found is that over the years more and more people are on heavy doses of medication, are more stressed, and have more than two health interferences completely controlling their health.

Whether it takes you a month or two or a year or two, we have the means to undo some major health issues that most people have. Why? Because most of our outside time is spent searching new ways of helping these complicated problems.

I’ll bet you’ve never experienced the type of work we do – it’s very unique and different than you’ve ever seen. But one thing is for sure; we spend the time trying to fix your health issues and teaching you how to avoid the mess you got into. Which brings us to the Forth event.

The Forth event is a health workshop. This happens once a month in the clinic. I speak about our latest health breakthrough and give demonstrations to existing patients, new patients, and guests. I’m done speaking in about 45 minutes but most of the time people sit in their chairs asking questions. That’s okay with me and then I say I have to go home for dinner.

How can we help you?

3 Things To Ask Your Prospective Chiropractor

Philip Cordova asked:

So you’ve made the decision to become part of the nearly 10% of the population that visits a chiropractor. While more than 50% of people surveyed have indicated that they would consider going to chiropractor for their health concern many still don’t because they’re not sure what to expect.

If you’re considering chiropractor care, here are three things you should ask the potential chiropractor:

1. Will my problem be helped with chiropractic care?

You don’t want to undergo a course of treatment if it’s not going to help anyway. No chiropractor should even consider accepting you as a patient unless you should expect to get results.

However, this question cannot realistically be answered over the phone. Some potential new patients will call the office and ask if the doctor can help with (insert your condition here).

A good answer might be “the doctor has successfully treated patients with that condition.” The best answer would be “the doctor won’t be able to answer whether or not your condition can be helped with chiropractic care until he has a chance to examine you.”

You wouldn’t expect a mechanic to diagnose your condition by saying it makes a “ping” noise. There are many things that can cause any symptom, and it’s up to the chiropractor to determine if your condition can be helped by his available treatments.

2. How much will my first visit cost?

While you really shouldn’t be bargain-hunting for your healthcare, you should feel comfortable knowing what you can expect from your first visit.

A bad answer is “we’ll see what your insurance will cover.” A better answer is “an examination is $80, and any additional costs like x-rays or treatment will be explained to you before you’re charged any further.”

Ahh… now you can relax. You know that by the time the doctor is done with your consultation and examination, you’ll know what’s wrong and if chiropractic can help.

It’s certainly no fun being in pain and wondering the whole time how much the bill is growing with every minute you’re spending with the doctor.

You can then make an educated decision about the types of treatment and the type of treatment program with which you feel most comfortable.

3. How late is the office open?

I know this questions seems pretty obvious, but since most people don’t understand the nature of chiropractic care (you may and likely will have to go more than once) this is an important consideration.

Your ability to be successful with your chiropractic are program is directly related to your ability to show up for your appointments. If the office hours aren’t convenient for you or maybe the office is just a bit too far for you to make your appointments consistently, you’ll have trouble getting the results you’re after.

A good chiropractor may be worth making some adjustments to your schedule, but making sure you can be consistent with your visits will make all the difference with your chiropractic experience.

eeking Chiropractic Care in Atlanta

Margaret Winfrey asked:

When seeking chiropractic care in Atlanta, there are certain things you should keep your eyes open for. Chiropractic care is a profession, and Doctors of Chiropractic, sometimes simply referred to as chiropractors, believe in the body’s inherent ability to heal itself with just a little help that avoids drugs, surgery or any other invasive technique. They are generally involved in the treatment of neurological and musculoskeletal problems such as spinal conditions and those involving pain, such as sciatica and back pain. Their treatment involves no surgery or medication, just manipulation that can be carried out manually or by machine.

Some forms of Chiropractics can be harmful if not carried out correctly by trained chiropractors, and it is highly recommended that when seeking chiropractic care in Atlanta you make sure that your doctor is certified with the NACM (National Association of Chiropractic Medicine).  Typical conditions with which you visit a chiropractor include joint pain, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica and neck and back pain among many other similar conditions. Frequently patients will have tried more traditional remedies such as surgery or pharmaceutical medication without achieving a lasting cure, and have decided to try chiropractics as a last resort. It is important therefore, that you keep an eye open for indications that your choice of chiropractic care in Atlanta might not be the right one.

For example, you should avoid any chiropractor who claims to be able to cure a disease, and you should carefully check out anybody that makes claims to practice preventive care. This is true in Atlanta as anywhere else in the USA. Real chiropractors do not use immunizations, and nor do they use ongoing X-rays after the initial examination. Some chiropractors are not fully trained and have set up in business without the proper certification. In fact, had some people considered a qualified Doctor of Chiropractics as their first port of call when seeking chiropractic care in Atlanta they might well have saved themselves a lot of time and pain, not to mention money.  A chiropractic physician will first interview you to find out about your condition and general state of health, and will give you a physical examination.

If deemed necessary, this could include x-ray examination and perhaps a laboratory analysis.  The whole objective of this is to get a good idea of your musculoskeletal structure and the nature of your condition.  However, they will also ask you questions about your diet, stress levels and other aspects of your life that could influence your medical and mental condition. In reaching a diagnosis a chiropractor will also try to establish a cause, or origin of the problem. It is always important to get to the root cause and deal with that rather than do as many physicians do and treat the symptoms.

That does not remove the problem, simply makes it less noticeable, but it will always still be there. Thus, the bulging disc will be treated, and not just the pain that it causes. The sciatic nerve that it is pinching in your spine might be the cause of the severe leg pain you are experiencing, and there is little point in treating the leg if the root problem lies elsewhere. Perhaps there is a misalignment of bones in your neck that is causing a problem in your arm. The chiropractor can adjust that alignment without surgery and cure the pain in your arm, even though it originates in your neck.

The chiropractor will try to find out what is causing the misalignment:  is it congenital, the result of an accident or your bad posture? By dealing with the cause of the misalignment, a repetition of it can be avoided, so not only are you having the pain in your arm fixed by tracing it to a bone misalignment in your neck perhaps pinching a nerve, but also the cause of the misalignment also rectified. That’s far preferable to giving you some painkillers and sending you home. If your chiropractor offers you painkillers as their first treatment, give them a wide berth. Sometimes they might be necessary but not before the condition has been thoroughly examined and a course of treatment set. Chiropractic treatment might involve regular massage, stretching exercises or even strengthening exercises so that your own muscles become strong enough to overcome the underlying problem. The initial step will be to reduce the pain or discomfort you feel, and that might happen quite quickly.  You might feel that you are being cured, but in fact it is only the symptoms that are being treated at this stage.

Once you are feeling more comfortable, and are relatively free of pain, rehabilitation begins that involves dealing with the underlying cause of your discomfort. This could involve manipulative treatment and strengthening exercises so that your neuro-musculoskeletal system is functioning as it should be. After that your chiropractor will formulate a program of nutrition and exercise for you, designed to prevent the condition from recurring, and to improve your general well being and health.

All of this takes time, and in chiropractics it is a case of little and often.  Frequent small changes to skeletal alignment or other biomechanical aspects of your body will allow problems to be resolved at a proper rate.  Too fast and the changes will not have time to become permanent, and although they might appear to be effective, you will soon suffer a relapse.  Many people find that chiropractics work for them where the more traditional techniques have not, and if you suffer from musculoskeletal problems, or suffer back pain, disc problems or any form of neural pain, then you are advised to visit a Doctor of Chiropractics who will be experienced in dealing with your kind of problem. However, when seeking chiropractic care in Atlanta make sure that your choice is qualified and NACM certified.
